Job Description

Position Summary

The Surgical Technologist prepares the operating room, maintains the sterile field, assists surgeons during procedures, and ensures surgical instruments and supplies are available throughout the operation.

Responsibilities

Prepare operating rooms and sterile instruments.
Set up surgical equipment and supplies.
Perform surgical counts with the circulating nurse.
Maintain aseptic technique throughout procedures.
Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon.
Anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
Handle specimens according to protocol.
Assist with patient positioning and skin preparation.
Clean and restock the operating room after procedures.
Participate in emergency and trauma surgeries as needed.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
Current certification (CST preferred where applicable).
BLS certification.
Knowledge of surgical procedures and sterile technique.

Knowledge of surgical instrumentation

Labor & Delivery

Physical Requirements

Stand for extended periods.
Lift and move surgical equipment.
Wear protective equipment throughout procedures.
Respond quickly during emergency cases.
