Job Description

Qualifications

  • Ability to assess and interpret patient information reflective of the patient’s condition and age-specific healthcare needs.
  • This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or visa transfer support.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills in both Spanish and English are required.
  • Must possess the required language reading proficiency.
  • Certification through the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) or the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI) must be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire.
  • Acceptable CCHI credentials include:
    • Associate Healthcare Interpreter (AHI)
    • Certified Healthcare Interpreter (CHI)
  • Acceptable NBCMI credentials include:
    • Certified Medical Interpreter (CMI)
    • Qualified Medical Interpreter (QMI)
    • Screened Medical Interpreter (SMI)

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate medical interpretation services for patients during healthcare visits, consultations, and clinical interactions.
  • Assist patients with completing questionnaires, forms, procedure preparation materials, and other healthcare-related documentation.
  • Communicate medical information, including treatment plans and medication instructions, between providers and patients.
  • Deliver general patient support and information while ensuring clear and culturally appropriate communication.
  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare teams, demonstrate strong organizational skills, manage time efficiently, and resolve issues professionally.
  • Demonstrate understanding of human growth and development principles across the lifespan when communicating with patients of varying age groups.
