Patient Reception: Warmly greet and courteously escort patients and guests to examination rooms.
Intake & Screening: Determine and document the primary reason for the patient's visit. Utilize critical thinking skills within the scope of the role to identify information requiring higher-level clinical follow-up.
Protocol Screening: Conduct initial response screenings following provider-approved protocols; gather patient data to populate appropriate EMR templates and update comprehensive patient histories.
Vital Signs: Obtain and precisely document patient vital signs in the EMR, including pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, height, and weight; calculate and record BMI.
Order Entry: Directly enter medication, laboratory, and radiology orders into the EMR in strict accordance with state, local, and professional guidelines.
Diagnostic Testing: Perform diagnostic tests and operate specialized equipment to administer routine testing as directed by the healthcare provider.
Specimen Collection: Perform general specimen collection (including blood, urine, and throat swabs) and assist with in-office procedures or minor surgeries while adhering to all safety precautions and institutional policies.
Specialized Testing: Perform Tuberculosis (TB) testing
Results Continuity: Track and communicate laboratory and diagnostic test results to patients as directed by the provider; relay specific clinical instructions based on those results.
Medication & Rx Management: Administer prescribed medications and facilitate prescription renewals under provider direction.
Quality & Disease Metrics: Participate in structured disease management programs under the supervision of the Care/Nurse Manager. Perform basic Gaps in Care assessments.
Performance Incentives: Actively contribute to improving practice performance on Quality Incentives, including the Provider Dashboard, PCMH, and health plan initiatives (e.g., BCN Physician Recognition, BCBSM Clinical Quality, and Priority Health Physician Improvement Plans).
Patient Education: Deliver clear, supportive patient and family education regarding diagnoses and treatment plans as directed by the provider.
Communication Liaison: Serve as a reliable liaison between patients and providers, ensuring timely, courteous follow-up regarding patient inquiries.
Documentation & Messaging: Take and relay accurate, comprehensive, dated, and signed messages in a timely manner.
Practice Collaboration: Support other clinic offices, attend required meetings, participate in committees, and complete assigned training.
