Job Description

Duties

  • Provide direct supervision and support to residents throughout assigned shifts, including during group activities, meals, recreation, and downtime
  • Conduct routine observation rounds at scheduled intervals and accurately document findings in the electronic medical record system (Kipu)
  • Assist residents with medication self-administration in accordance with facility policies, procedures, and documentation standards
  • Respond to behavioral and emotional crises using approved de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming environment, including light housekeeping and supply stocking as needed
  • Complete shift notes, communication logs, and incident reports accurately and in a timely manner
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with families, clinical staff, on-call administrators, and incoming team members during shift transitions
  • Demonstrate professionalism, healthy coping strategies, and respectful communication in all interactions
  • Uphold resident confidentiality and maintain full HIPAA compliance at all times
  • Perform overnight duties when assigned, including room checks, temperature monitoring, meal preparation setup for the following day, and end-of-shift reporting

Skills & Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Current and valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Current TB test documentation
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in residential treatment, behavioral health, child welfare, education, or related human services settings
  • Coursework or training in psychology, social work, counseling, or human services
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
